Department of Film & Media Arts Assistant Professor Kenneth Collins is a panelist in The Office of the Vice President for Research's “Imagined Futures,” a showcase of University of Utah scholars and their works that imagines possible futures. The event will be held on November 13, 2025 form 10:30am–12:00pm in the INSCC Auditorium, Room 110.
Collins is joined by Lisa Swanstrom (Department of English) and Rogelio Cardona-Riveria (Games) and will be presenting his own work, "AI and the Future of No Budget Filmmaking." Abstract: Imagine a future where independent filmmakers can produce Hollywood-quality films on their laptops with virtually no budget and reach global audiences directly through multi-platform strategies. This talk explores the potential of a democratized creative economy where imagination is the only limit.
This event also serves as a kick-off for an Imagined Futures Initiative which will showcase and support research and creative efforts to conceptualize the world of tomorrow.
