Inez Akumutima
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hello, my name is Inez Akumutima! I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Illustration, and I aim to one day work as a visual development artist or background painter in the animation industry. Like many, I enrolled here unaware of the sheer number of ways Art can show up as a career, in our communities, and in our daily lives. As an Artforce intern I hope to shine a light on the various resources and pathways available to all who, like me, didn't know they existed. This year I am eager to help students grow a meaningful and supportive network that will assist with their career goals.

Kim Johnston
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hi! I’m Kim, an Illustration major with an Animation minor. My dream is to work on graphic novels, animated movies/shows, or video games. I love practicing art in a variety of mediums, and I love spending my time outside, reading, and playing music. As an Artsforce intern, I am excited to share opportunities within the College of Fine Arts with fellow students and assist in strengthening a network of supportive artists in our community.

Corbin Stewart
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hello, my name is Corbin Stewart. I’m a fine arts major with an emphasis in illustration and minoring in Strategic Communications. I have interest in concept art and design, fine art, and performance art. Before joining the College of Fine Arts I was worried it would be impossible to find work in the world of art, but I have come to learn there is an abundance of opportunities for artists. I enjoy meeting new people, so if you ever see me out in the wild don’t hesitate to say hi! As an ArtsForce intern, I aim to show students within the college of fine arts just how much opportunity there is within the art industry and to connect people within the field.

Zoe Madrid
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hello, my name is Zoe Madrid! I am a first-generation Latina and have spoken Spanish at home my entire life, so I prefer it to be pronounced as soh-eh. I am in my second year as an art education major and aim to become a high school art teacher. As an emerging leader I hope to learn how to create a safe and encouraging environment where people are free to make art, be creative, and experiment without judgement. Making people feel seen and confident in themselves as artists and people is a priority that I vow to bring to my work as an ambassador and in the future as a teacher.

Sadie Olsen
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hello, I’m Sadie Olsen. This is my second year at Arts Force. I’m a music composition major, and my primary instrument is violin. I have been playing for 12 years, and I’ve been writing music for 4 years. I particularly enjoy writing vocal music. My plans for the future are to write and conduct opera. Outside of music I love to sew and read. As an Arts Force intern I’m excited to connect with students throughout the college with different backgrounds and help with their careers. I’m excited to see what we will accomplish this year.

Colby Carpenter
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hi, I’m Colby! I’m currently pursuing a BFA in Theatre as part of the Performing Arts Design Program, where I study lighting for theatre, dance, and other live events. I am passionate about the intersection of art and technology and love putting my technical mind and creative eye to work. I've loved lighting since seeing my first play when I was 12. Since then, I've pushed myself to become a designer who can impact lives the way theatre has impacted mine. I’m excited to use this internship as an opportunity to connect with other artists in the area!

Kieran Lucas
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hello! I am Kieran Lucas, a fourth-year illustration student. Most of my interest in illustration is in character design, storytelling, or any other forms of world building, my goal is to publish my own graphic novel someday! Outside of art, I am a huge sports and music fan, I love going to games or concerts whenever I can. On top of that, I am an outdoorsy person, I love taking hikes and going camping. I am excited to be an intern so I can meet and help all my fellow arts students here at UofU!

Caleb Martin
Emerging Leaders Intern
Hail!- my name is Caleb Martin. I am a Music Composition Major whose main instrument is voice. As an artist and a human, I value Quality, Curiosity, Beauty, and Perseverance. As a composer, I write in a variety of styles, though broadly I am interested in “pop” music- in the sense that Franz Liszt, Broadway Music of the 1920’s, the Beatles, Nirvana, and Bjork could all be called pop music. I also love barbershop quartets and early music. I enjoy reading, collaging, experiencing art (live music or performances, in galleries and museums, or graffiti on the streets), plumbing the depths of the unknown, building bridges, and opening portals. I look forward to supporting, growing, and learning from the arts community here on campus through this internship. Godspeed!
