The College of Fine Arts is now accepting nominations for the following Office for Undergraduate Research (OUR) awards:

2026 College of Fine Arts Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award

You must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking, undergraduate student and engaged in any research/creative/scholarly tradition in the College of Fine Arts.

To be considered, please email (from your UMail) the following information to Liz Leckie (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), no later than 1/30.

    • A list of your research-related activities on campus
    • The primary faculty research mentor with whom you have worked
    • A personal statement that addresses the following questions:
      • In what specific ways has the research activities in which you have been involved improved your knowledge of your discipline?
      • How have the research activities in which you have been involved strengthened your independent and critical thinking skills?
      • How has the research/mentor relationship positively impacted your undergraduate experience?
    • The following items are optional, but if you would like to submit them, the committee will review them.
      • A copy of your undergraduate research proposal(s)
      • A letter of recommendation from a faculty member who you consider to be a research mentor

Awardees and their faculty research mentor will be honored at the Office of Undergraduate Research: Undergraduate Research Awards Ceremony on 4/21.


2026 College of Fine Arts Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award

To be eligible for this award, you must be: (1) a tenure-line or career-line faculty in the College of Fine Arts and (2) have mentored UROP or SPUR scholars or engaged in other types of undergraduate research or creative scholarship on campus.

If you would like to be considered as the 2026 College of Fine Arts Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor, please email the following information to Liz Leckie (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), no later than 1/30. 

    • A research statement that outlines your sustained commitment to undergraduate research mentoring 
    • A letter of recommendation from your unit Chair/Director Letters should provide evidence of:
      • (1) active participation in research-related activities on campus, and/or
      • (2) positive contributions to the research culture of the Department, College, or University involving undergraduate researchers.   

Awardees will be honored at the Office of Undergraduate Research: Undergraduate Research Awards Ceremony on 4/21.
