Filmmaking Sisters on Fire

Congratulations to Miriam and Sonia Albert Sobrino, graduate students in the Department of Film & Media Arts.

Their most recent short film “The Executioner’s Vacation” has been nominated to a Galician Academy Award in the category of “Best Short Film.”

The members of the Academy chose 4 films among the 25 presented, one of them ours.  This is already an award for us. This year the Academy eliminated the “Experimental” category making it more difficult to our film to actually be nominated, therefore, this is for us a success!  Miriam and Sonia.

CUAC (Art Gallery Downtown SLC) will be showcasing some of Miriam and Sonia’s films along with Jan Andrews’ and Matt Glass’ work April 18th-May 4th.

This is a great opportunity to see their work for the first time to Salt Lake City and to help in funding their feature length film they will be filming in Galicia, Spain over the summer.

This special showing at the CUAC center has been made possible thanks to Anne Peterson, and CUAC Board member and Facilitator Adam Bateman.
