University Commencement and College of Fine Arts Convocation

UNIVERSITY-WIDE COMMENCEMENT

The University of Utah General Commencement will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 9:00 AM in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The College of Fine Arts strongly encourages all candidates for graduation and their friends and families to attend this celebration and commemorate this rite-of-passage. All candidates for graduation should arrive in cap and gown by 8:00 AM in the parking lot south of Milton Bennion Hall. President Michael Young will confer all College degrees en masse (except the Schools of Law and Medicine) during this morning commencement.

COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS CONVOCATION
Convocation for the College of Fine Arts will be held at Kingsbury Hall on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:30 AM.

Line-up of Graduates

All Graduates should line up for the College Convocation by 11:00 AM in the lower level of Kingsbury Hall. Baccalaureate Candidates should enter through the "Stage Door" at the Northeast corner of the building. Masters, DMA and Ph.D. candidates line up on the lower level lobby area. Look for the "Graduates Enter Here" signs directly behind the Ticket Booth.

Guest Seating

Tickets are not required to attend Convocation. Due to space limits, we recommend limiting the number of guests to 4 if possible.

Special Seating/Accommodations

Special seating arrangements for guests in wheelchairs or those having difficulty walking are available. If anyone in your party needs special arrangements for seating or building access, please contact the CFA office at 801.581.6764 in advance.

Students or guests with disabilities may also give reasonable prior notice and request accommodations through the Center for Disability Services at 801.581.5020 (voice/TDD).

Parking

Campus parking lots may be used at no charge during Convocation and Commencement ceremonies. Families are encouraged to drop off elderly guests and those who cannot walk long distances near the southeast side entrance before parking. Guests may also park in other lots and catch a University shuttle to Kingsbury Hall.

Cap and Gown Orders

Students can purchase and pick up graduation regalia at the University Bookstore's Grad Fair in April 2010. See the University Campus Store for additional information.

Honor Cards

Candidates graduating with honors should contact their respective honor society representatives to purchase honor cards. The College and Departments do not provide the cards.

Reader Card

Reader cards and pencils will be distributed to candidates during the line-up. Candidates should print their names legibly, and include phonetic spelling if necessary. The reader card will be used to announce the candidate's name at commencement.

Photographs

Gammell Photography will be photographing graduates during the College of Fine Arts Convocation ceremony. A representative from Gammell Photography will contact graduates after the ceremony with information on purchasing photographs if they wish.
