Scholarship Opportunitites



The College of Fine Arts Advisory Board (FAAB) Scholarships
The FAAB will award a total of six (6) scholarships to Fine Arts majors, one from each department, who are deserving students and have demonstrated excellence in their field. This scholarship will consist of $2,500.00, divided in equal semester payments in the fall and spring, as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and remains in good departmental standing.

Criteria:
- Current, full- time declared major in the College of Fine Arts
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Undergraduate with junior or senior status for the 2010-11 academic year
- Personal interview with the scholarship committee
- Faculty evaluation

Procedure:
March 5, 2010.
- Deadline for submitting applications to the Department Office is 5:00PM on Friday March 5, 2010
- Note: the Confidential Faculty Evaluation Form must also be submitted, by the faculty member completing the evaluation, to the Department Office by March 5th in order for the application to be complete.

March 29 - April 2, 2010
The FAAB Scholarship Committee will be conducting interviews between March 29th - April 2nd. All finalists will need to make themselves available for a fifteen- minute interview. Finalist will be contacted by the Dean's office to schedule an interview.


Utah Fine Arts Institute Scholarship

The Utah Fine Arts Institute will award four (4) $2,000 scholarships to promising undergraduate Fine Arts scholars.

Criteria:

- These awards are intended to acknowledge the excellence achieved by undergraduate students pursuing degrees, emphases, or focus in the history, theory, and/or criticism of their arts discipline (such as art history, dance criticism, dramaturgy, music theory, etc.).

- All applicants must have earned and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0

- All applicants must have earned a minimum of nine (9) University of Utah semester credit hours at the upper division level (i.e. 3000 or 4000 level courses) in their declared Fine Arts major.

- All applicants must be enrolled as full time students pursuing a declared Fine Arts major during the year the award is made and the year the award is received.

- Priority will be given to first time applicants

Procedure:

- Six copies of the completed application - including the one page personal statement, scholarly work, and DARS report - are due to the College of Fine Arts Dean's Office (250 ART) by Friday, March 5,2010. Incomplete applications or applications received after this due date will not be considered.

- Attach a sample of scholarly work (e.g. a paper submitted for a class, research organization, or professional association) of approximately ten double-spaced typed pages that includes an anlytical, critical, historical, or theoretical component.

- Attach a recent copy of your DARS report.

- Provide full contact information for two professors who can attest to your scholarly accomplishments - one from a faculty member in your major department/division/school, one from a professor outside your major.
