Scholarship Opportunitites
The College of Fine Arts Advisory Board (FAAB)
will award a scholarship to a Fine Arts major who is a deserving student, who has demonstrated excellence in their field. This scholarship will consist of $2,500.00, divided in equal semester payments in the fall and spring, as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and remains in good departmental standing.
Criteria:
- Current, full- time declared major in the College of Fine Arts
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Undergraduate with junior or senior status for the 2008- 09 academic year
- Personal interview with the scholarship committee
- Faculty evaluation
Procedure:
Friday, March 7, 2008 Deadline for submitting applications to the Department office is 5:00 PM on March 7th.
Note: the Confidential Faculty Evaluation Form must also be submitted, by the faculty member completing the evaluation, to the Department Office by March 7th in order for the application to be complete.
March 31-April 4, 2008
The FAAB Scholarship Committee will be conducting interviews between March 31st and April 4th. All finalists will need to make themselves available for a fifteen- minute interview. Finalist will be contacted by the Dean's office to schedule an interview. Download the Word Document Application Form

Emma Eccles Jones Fine Arts House Scholarship

Where can you find a filmmaker, dancer, singer, painter, musician, sculptor, animator, choreographer, actor, and playwright all under the same roof? The Emma Eccles Jones Fine Arts House, located on Officer's Circle at Ft. Douglas, offers student artists from all of the College of Fine Arts disciplines a chance to live and learn from each other during a year of collaboration and new experiences. Opportunities abound for the select few who can call themselves residents of this unique house. Spend an evening sharing a conversation with your favorite faculty member, have dinner with the Dean of the College of Fine Arts another night, and mingle with the wide variety of visiting artists that come to the U every year. Residents will also receive two tickets to all of the performances offered through the College of Fine Arts. Sound good? This could be your year to experience the arts in a new way. Eligibility
- Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Applicants must be full- time undergraduates in the College of Fine Arts in their sophomore, junior, or senior year; both residents and non- residents are eligible.
- Applicants must have a minimum of two semesters remaining before graduation.
Recipients of the Emma Eccles Jones Fine Arts House Scholarship will receive $2,000 for the 2008- 09 academic year ($1,000 in the Fall semester of 2008 and $1,000 in the Spring semester of 2009). Each student selected to reside in the Fine Arts House will sign a contract with Residential Living and agree to abide by all rules and policies set forth in the contract. Students are responsible for housing and meal plan costs. Residency will normally include one academic year. A student may reside in the Emma Eccles Jones Fine Arts House for a total of four semesters maximum (Two academic years). Students who are current residents in the Fine Arts House and wish to stay for one more year must reapply.
Application deadlines and procedures
Applications are due on Monday, February 4, 2008
Applicants should fill out the application form, have a faculty member fill out an evaluation and submit both directly to their department Chair/Director, who will review the applications, and submit them to the selection committee. The selection committee will review the applications from each department, interview the applicants and make the final decisions. Announcements will be made in March 2008. Students must remain in good standing, which entails maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA while actively pursuing an undergraduate degree as a full- time student in the College of Fine Arts and maintaining good standing in your home department/school/division. In the event that a student changes majors in the College of Fine Arts, that student may continue to live in the house. If the student changes to a major outside the College, s/he will not be eligible to reside in the Fine Arts House after the semester in which the decision to change majors is made.
