Director for the Center for Interdisciplinary Arts and Technology
The College of Fine Arts invites applications to fill the .50 FTE position of Director for The Center for Interdisciplinary Arts and Technology at The University of Utah. The position will begin July 1, 2008.
The College of Fine Arts created the Center for Interdisciplinary Arts and Technology (CIDAT) to meet the changing needs of artistic and scientific inquiry, practice and pedagogy. Housed in the New Media Wing of the Art and Architecture Building, CIDAT fosters creative investigation in the arts and sciences, and provides opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches to research. CIDAT seeks to develop creative researchers; both faculty and student, in all disciplines who can inform contemporary thought and expand the horizons of artistic and scientific inquiry and practice.
The Director will generate and administrate programs, which further the mission of the Center. These include but are not limited to: The Research Fellowship Award Program, The Interdisciplinary Lecture Series, The Researcher-in-Residence Program (projected), and The Arts Technology Symposium. Duties include establishing and cultivating relationships with the University community to promote and generate CIDAT activities. The Director will work closely with CIDAT Administrative Assistant in all aspects of the Center’s activities and will play a key role in fundraising efforts for the Center by working with the College Development Office. The Director will work closely with the Advisory Board comprised of faculty from across the University and members of the community.
The successful candidate will have experience working with the arts and an interest in furthering the collaboration and integration of multiple artistic disciplines with an array of scientific methods. Ideally, the candidate will possess a terminal degree in his/her field of research. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Fine Arts.
